A big pool filled with miniature ships and sailing boats is set in the Maritime Culture Center. Kids (and adults too) can organize a regatta and race each other by steering the ships from the pool's edges. Apart from being a fun experience, this branch of the National Maritime Museum is also highly educative. 

During warm days of the summer months the 4 Quarters Fountain is occupied by children running through the irregular water streams and screaming with excitement. After dark the fountain becomes beautifully floodlit. While the kids are having their fun, you can enjoy a drink in the lovely W Starym Kadrze cafe. 

A 400 sq. m. big indoor playground with an educational character and interactive attractions that can't be found anywhere else. Kids up to 10 years old, accompanied by a parent or adult guardian (or left with an animateur on weekends), learn f.e. about the construction of ships. A change of footwear is required before entering, so bring slippers or thick socks (barefoot is not allowed either). At every full hour a maximum of 75 people can enter the playground.

Some family fun in the Play Department is best combined with a visit of the European Solidarity Center permanent exhibition.

Very interactive, stimulating creativity and raising awareness about our responsibility for our planet. This innovative and modern center offers attractions and activities for all age groups - children, teenagers and adults. Kids will love it just as much as their parents.

Kraina Zabawy (Fun Land) is the biggest outdoor playground in Gdansk, inside Reagan's Park. A variety of devices and an adjacent skate park attract crowds of youngsters, especially on weekends, which will allow your kids to make new friends. Further facilities include accessible attractions and an open air gym. Free entry.

Lody Miś is a the legendary traditional ice cream parlour in Gdansk. The frozen treats are made for more than 50 years, only with natural ingredients. Ask any local about which their favourite ice cream are and this place will likely be the answer. Long queues are to be expected in July and August.

Alternatively, you can go a few steps further to Znane Smaki located on parallel Tartaczna Street, where former Miś employees now make their own ice cream with use of the original recipes. Gdansk locals still debate which one is the real deal, so the choice is yours. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

As much as a visit in the beautiful Oliwa Park is already a great experience itself, it's feeding the ducks swimming in the ponds that puts a huge smile on small children's faces. Be mindful, though, and don't feed bread to the birds, which isn't healthy for them. Instead, bring cracked corn, wheat, seeds, oats, rice, frozen (defrosted) peas or corn, and keep the amounts reasonable. 

The small Ciu Ciu shop produces sweets with use of a 17th century technology. The hand-made caramels are cute, unique and delicious. And the best part is that you are likely to witness the production process on site. Sugar is bad, we know, but once in awhile you can make an exception.

The first ship build in the Gdansk Shipyard after the Second World War, Sołdek is now a part of the National Maritime Museum in Gdansk. Visiting the freighter can be an exciting experience for young future engineers or aspiring sea wolves.

When the weather makes it impossible to enjoy the many outdoor attractions of Gdansk, Loopy's World may be a good alternative to occupy your kids. Multi-level constructions, trampolines, slides, a climbing wall, mini sports courts, dry pools with balls, a laser chamber, go-karts and more. A designated area for 1-3 year olds keeps them safe. There is a restaurant on site.

A skansen museum combined with multimedia exhibitions spread through four units - the Chief's Hut, the Market Hall, the Amber Craftsman's Hut and the Blacksmith's Hut. Kids can wear reconstructed outfits from 2000 years ago and become little Goths, learn about the lifestyles of the people, play archaeologist at an excavation site imitation or visit farm animals. In the summer season it's also possible to try yourself in archery.

This reconstruction of an ancient amber trade village makes a fun half-day trip for the whole family.
