The 21st FIFA World Cup held in Russia means 64 exciting football spectacles and you don't have to miss any of them while in Gdansk. There's also no need to hole up in your hotel room with beer and snacks, when you can make watching live matches a part of your Gdansk experience by joining the local crowd of football fans. We tell you where to do that.
Where can I watch the World Cup 2018 in Gdansk outdoors?
The official Gdansk Fan Zone will be located on the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy) in Gdansk and will launch on Tuesday, the 19th of June with a live streaming of the Poland – Senegal match. Not all of the World Cup games will be possible to watch here, but the ones that will surely be screened are Poland – Colombia (24.06), Japan – Poland, England – Belgium (both on 28.06), the semi-finals and the final.
Another option to enjoy watching a World Cup 2018 game at an open air venue is offered this year by Ulica Elektryków. Screenings will include all matches of the Polish team, as well as a couple of other potentially interesting encounters on Russia's football fields. Check their facebook page for updates and arrive early to score one of the venue's deck chairs.
Neighbouring 100cznia is inviting to their container fan zone, which will be set up in the venue's "beach" part. All matches will be streamed here.

If you prefer a roof over your head while watching a game, don't just choose any roof. Brovarnia Gdańsk is a dead cert for boasting a fun football atmosphere. The venue's 'Football Menu' will offer beer snacks like baked jalepenos, duck croquettes or homemade nachos, ribs and barbecue chicken wings. The main highlight will be the Brovarnia beer produced on-site and its special summer edition with a World Cup 2018 label – talking about unique souvenirs. If that's not fancy enough for you, ask the staff about cocktails dedicated to the countries of the teams playing. Most importantly, you can watch all games there, with no exceptions. Bookings are recommended.
You can also share football emotions with ohers at the sports-themed restaurant Time Out, which is going to show all games on 3 screens. If you want to make sure you have the best view on the tv, book a table ahead – the sooner the better.
Other centrally located venues which will be screening all or most of the World Cup 2018 matches are Restaurant Republika, located on the Motlawa river bank, Fahrenheit on the Long Market (Długi Targ), its sister venue White Rabbit Saloon facing the Amber Sky ferris wheel, and the Cathead Multipap pub next to the Green Gate.
If you're prepared to leave Gdansk's Main Town, head to the Green Club in the Zaspa district. You can watch the game on 5 tv's and 2 large screens, and recreate the action on one of the venue's football tables afterwards.
